Abstract

Textual and thematic evidence indicates that the Prologue and Epilogue in Job are an elaboration of an ancient core story of hope. The elaboration and expansion of the core story are intended to provide a setting for presenting a range of positions on personal retribution. An attempt is made to glean the ancient core story from the MT.
